Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant

Moscow, Apr 9 (RHC) The possibilities of reaching an agreement on the protection of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant remains, Russia's permanent representative at international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said on Saturday.

The diplomat acknowledged that the possibilities are not very great, and the matter is stalled by Ukrainian authorities’ negative stance, the TASS news agency reported.

Previously, Ulyanov told the Rossiya 24 television channel that Russia and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are holding constructive dialogue on the protection of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi is correcting his proposals in this field.

In particular, the IAEA chief removed the word “zone” from his proposal to ensure the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, as it “has a territorial aspect” and “it may make it difficult for Kiev to make a positive decision” on the safety of the facility. (Source: PL)
