Havana, April 9 (RHC) - One day after various municipalities were affected by heavy rains in the south of Puerto Rico, the inhabitants of that area were shaken today by a 4.5-magnitude earthquake.

According to the Seismic Network, the earthquake occurred at around 09:00 local time at a depth of 13 kilometers with its epicenter 5.81 kilometers from Guánica, in the southwest of this Caribbean island.

The reaction of Puerto Ricans on social networks indicates that it was felt in most of the country, although it was indicated that there is no tsunami warning, or watch for Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands.

Contrary to what happened on Saturday with the copious rains in the southern strip, this time there was no damage from the earthquake, which is part of the original sequence that shook the entire island at the beginning of 2020, according to Víctor Huérfano, director of the Red seismic.
