Washington, Aug 9 (RHC) At least 13 children rescued and 98 arrests are the result of the dismantling of a child sex abuse ring in the United States and Australia, authorities from both countries announced Tuesday.

The incident occurred more than two years after two Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents were killed in the city of Sunrise, Florida, while investigating an alleged international pedophile ring.

At a press conference on Tuesday, the FBI and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) reported that the joint operation resulted in 79 arrests, 65 indictments and 43 convictions in the United States, while 19 males were apprehended in Australia.

The FBI agents shot dead in 2021 were executing a search warrant for a computer programmer suspected of possessing child abuse material, CNN reported at the time.

A statement detailed that the members of this criminal skein reportedly used software to share files anonymously, chat and access websites within the network, using encryption and "other methods to avoid detection by law enforcement". (Source: Prensa Latina).
