Caracas, January 24 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has called for the activation of the Bolivarian Fury in order to neutralize any attempted coup plan and defend the peace of the South American nation.

The head of state reiterated that he is a man of peace who believes in dialogue and democracy, and asserted" "I have never surrendered and I will never surrender to the empire.  I will never ever betray the people."

"But I have told you, men and women of the deep people, men and women of the catacombs, men and women of the foot; I am one of you.  If someday the fascists and the fascists were to do me any harm, any attack, I leave it in your hands to do what you have to do to reinstate justice and peace in Venezuela; activate the Bolivarian Fury," he declared after the mobilization against the conspiracy and on the 66th anniversary of the overthrow of the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez.

In addition, he recalled the dismantling of five coup attempts in 2023 that sought to attempt against his life and that of officials of his cabinet.

"They wanted to physically eliminate me, again, five times; they wanted to kill General Padrino (López) and the main military chiefs; on January 1st they wanted to kidnap and kill Governor Freddy Bernal. I say it in front of the world:  We want peace, tranquility, work, study, recovery, prosperity.  We want to recover the state of social welfare (...) we have to have our guard up and ready to refuel any fascist coup they try, if they were to try it again", he stated.

For his part, the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and deputy, Diosdado Cabello, that now it is the turn of the "counterattack of the Bolivarian Fury."

"Now it is our turn, now you are going to see how it is. It is the turn of the Bolivarian Fury's counterattack and we are going to leave from San Cristobal, joining historical dates from January 23 to February 4, Dignity Day, to also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the arrival of our beloved Commander Hugo Chavez to the Presidency of the Republic. From here we will leave in a beautiful caravan, a caravan full of love, of patriots", he affirmed.

On this day, mobilizations were carried out in several states of the country in defense of the peace and security of the national territory, as well as in rejection of the destabilizing plans.  Likewise, this day commemorates the 66th anniversary of the end of the dictatorship of Pérez Jiménez, when the people rose up, in civil-military union, to recover freedom and democracy.

According to a press release issued by the National Statistics Institute (INE), "the origin of this movement can be traced back to the events of January 1st of the same year, when different war planes became visible in the sky over Caracas, as a result of the deep discontent among the officers of the Armed Forces".

In the early morning of that January 23rd, the dictator left the country and went to the Dominican Republic. Subsequently, a Provisional Government Junta was appointed which "freed the political prisoners and proceeded to call elections in December of the same year," allowing the beginning of a new stage in the country.
