Gaza City, June 12 (RHC)-- The Ministry of Health in Gaza says Israeli forces have killed 120 Palestinians in the past 24 hours, 57 of them near US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) sites.

Medical officials at Al-Shifa and Al-Quds hospitals said on Wednesday that the Israeli regime’s forces killed at least 25 people and wounded dozens as they approached a GHF aid site near the former settlement of Netzarim.

Later on Wednesday, medical officials at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip said the Israeli regime’s forces killed at least six people as they approached another GHF site in Rafah further south.

The Ministry said the Israeli regime’s forces killed 26 aid seekers near other GHF sites, bringing the total death toll near aid distribution centers on Wednesday to 57.

“We transported at least 31 martyrs and about 200 wounded as a result of Israeli tank and drone fire on thousands of citizens ... on their way to receive food from the American aid center,” said Mahmud Bassal, Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson.

Bassal said thousands of Palestinians had been gathering since 2 am in the hope of reaching the GHF food distribution center.  “Israeli tanks fired several times, and then at around 5:30 a,m intensified their fire, coinciding with heavy fire from drones targeting civilians,” he said.

On Tuesday, the Ministry said the Israeli regime’s forces killed 17 near the GHF aid site in Rafah. The regime said its forces “only” fired warning shots to distance “suspects” who were approaching the troops and posed a threat.

The GHF is an American organization, based in Delaware, established in February 2025 to distribute humanitarian aid in Gaza.  It has the support of the Israeli regime’s cabinet and also the Trump administration and functions through privately-owned companies.

The organization has been criticized by the United Nations (UN) and other humanitarian organizations for politicizing aid distribution.  Well-established humanitarian agencies such as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA) say the GHF is a cover for the Israeli regime to pursue its aims of depopulating Gaza of Palestinians.

The Israeli regime’s forces have killed more than 224 and wounded more than 1,858 Palestinians near the aid sites operated by the foundation since it began its work 2 weeks ago.

Gaza Government’s Media Office has released a statement, and said the Israeli regime “is deliberately creating chaos in the Gaza Strip by perpetuating a policy of starvation and deliberately targeting and killing starving people seeking food.”

“This has been achieved through direct, often intentional, and sometimes random killings by quadcopters, helicopters, or tanks, targeting young men, elderly people, and children who rushed to obtain whatever food aid was available to feed their children and families,” the statement said.

The regime allowed a minuscule number of aid trucks to enter the besieged enclave, only to then purposefully target the Palestinians who came to seek aid, or completely take the aid by supporting organized robberies, it added.

“This criminal policy [is] pursued by the occupation army against our Palestinian people, and we hold it fully responsible for this bloody chaos.”

According to the statistics published by the Gaza Ministry of Health, since October 7, 2023, when the Israeli regime began its genocidal war, it has killed more than 55,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 127,000, most of whom are children and women.
