The Venezuelan prosecutor called Volker Türk a "shame on humanity" and called for the Austrian official's immediate resignation.

Caracas, June 30 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab has denounced the double standards of Volker Türk, who has been completely inactive in the face of the systematic violation of human rights committed by immigration authorities such as ICE (United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement) against immigrants from all Latin American and Caribbean countries.

According to William Saab, Türk has outgrown the position of High Commissioner for Human Rights for the United Nations, as demonstrated by his silence regarding the violations committed by the United States government in the raids against migrants by security agents.

The Venezuelan official condemned the High Commissioner's preference for "maintaining his seat imposed by the imperial superpowers," and to this end, he has adopted an interventionist stance against Venezuela's sovereignty and the national justice system.  He also disregarded the fact that "more than 75% of the people admitted into ICE custody in 2025 had no criminal conviction other than an immigration or traffic-related violation," according to records from the immigration service itself.

Attorney General Saab denounced that 252 Venezuelans have been tortured, detained, and disappeared in the US and El Salvador, while Türk behaves like a cowardly accomplice in the kidnapping and incommunicado detention of these Venezuelan citizens in that Central American nation, deprived of all due process and human rights guarantees.

With this complaint, Saab once again joins the demands of the families of Venezuelans held captive at the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), with the absolute complicity of President Nayib Bukele and the United Nations agencies for which Türk works.

Recently, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros questioned the effectiveness of the work of UN officials who appear to have been hired to silence and persecute independent leaders and countries, while turning a blind eye to governments that repress, shoot down, and kill those who speak out against their actions.
