Washington, July 14 (RHC)-- UG Solutions, the military contractor involved in the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, has engaged the crisis communications firm Seven Letter, operated by former communications staffers from the Joe Biden and Barack Obama administrations, independent journalist Jack Poulson has revealed.
The GHF, responsible for the deadly food aid distribution operations in Gaza after the Israeli regime stopped the activities of the UN’s Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), is run by the North Carolina-based private military contractor UG Solutions, led by former Green Beret Jameson Govoni.
UG Solutions, the GHF’s scandal-hit military contractor, has largely operated as a subcontractor to the Virginia-based security and logistics firm Safe Reach Solutions, which is led by Philip Francis Reilly, a former covert activities chief for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) with clear links to the Israeli spy agency Mossad.
In response to the widespread controversy surrounding the two US contractors, the firms shifted in May with UG Solutions hiring the crisis communications firm Seven Letter, which is run by former communications staffers in the Biden and Obama administrations, Poulson revealed on Friday.
Former USAID official John Acree and the evangelical public relations executive Johnnie Moore became the two firms’ public face via the GHF, following the resignation of the GHF’s original executive director over concerns of violations of core humanitarian principles.
This comes amid reports by the United Nations that nearly 800 Palestinians have been killed at GHF aid points in Gaza since it began its work in May. Eyewitnesses have said both the Israeli forces and American military contractors manning the sites fired on them, and two resignees from UG Solutions confirmed those accounts to the Associated Press.
Haaretz has also published testimony from Israeli soldiers who were ordered to fire on aid seekers.
UNRWA’s chief says the food aid distribution sites run by the Mossad-linked American firms have become “death traps” for starving people in Gaza. Philippe Lazzarini said last month that the food aid delivery and distribution system used by the U.S. firms and Israeli forces were “humiliating” for the starving people in Gaza.
“This humiliating system has forced thousands of hungry and desperate people to walk for tens of miles to an area that’s all but pulverized due to heavy bombardment” by the Israeli military, Lazzarini said.
He emphasized that the first and foremost requirement of an aid system is that it must be safe. “UN has a clear, principled and practical plan to save lives and distribute aid at scale.”
Lazzarini also said that the GHF’s brutal food aid distribution system in Gaza is resulting in the Palestinian people losing trust in the international community for failing to provide safe humanitarian relief.
“It is eroding their trust in the international community, jeopardizing any prospect for peace and security,” he pointed out.
The UN official stressed that the safe distribution of aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza can only be achieved through the United Nations’ agencies, including UNRWA.
The UNRWA chief further called on the Israeli regime to lift its siege on Gaza and allow safe and unhindered access for humanitarian aid to enter the war-stricken people in the besieged territory, stressing that this is the only way to avert mass starvation, including among 1 million Palestinian children in Gaza.
The US firms’ aid sites were opened for relief operations in Gaza months after Tel Aviv banned UNRWA from operating in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territory.
