Gaza City, July 14 (RHC)-- Two more Palestinian journalists have been killed in separate Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll to 231 since the start of the Israeli genocidal war against the besieged coastal territory in early October 2023, according to local authorities.
The official Palestinian WAFA news agency, citing medical sources in Gaza, reported that journalist Hussam al-Adlouni was killed along with his wife and three children in an Israeli strike on a tent camp for displaced people in al-Mawasi in southern Gaza.
The Israeli army had designated the area as a safe zone, but repeatedly attacked it since the start of its war on Gaza.
Additionally, Palestinian journalist Fadi Khalifa was killed in a bombing while he was inspecting his home in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate mourned the loss of the two journalists. It stated that the killings mark a new crime added to Israel’s abysmal record against Palestinian members of the press, as the occupying regime is attempting to silence free voices and obscure the truth.
“The Israeli occupation is pursuing a systematic policy of targeting journalists and media institutions, in flagrant violation of all international conventions that guarantee the protection of journalists during armed conflicts,” the syndicate said in a statement.
Journalists have been gathering in hospitals from the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza, seeking relatively steady internet service, electricity, and safety in numbers. Locals say journalists have been stationed and reporting from Nasser Hospital throughout the conflict.
Journalists in Gaza are walking with targets on their backs, media rights organizations said. The idea, the groups said, is to discourage reporting of war crimes Israel is committing to allow Israel to avoid any accountability.
At least 58,026 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 138,520 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the besieged coastal territory.
