Preparations Underway for Havana´s International Festival of New Latin American Cinema

Havana, December 5 (RHC)-- Acclaimed filmmakers will converge in Havana this week to participate in Havana´s International Festival of the New Latin American Cinema, slated to run from December 8th through the 17th.

According to the events Organizing Committee, participants will include film directors of the works competing for the “Coral” awards, which on this 30th edition are estimated in some 140 works that include feature films and documentaries, animated films, unpublished scripts and posters.

Carlos Diegues, a renowned film director and producer of Brazil´s Cinema Novo will be awarded the Coral of Honor, and flamenco singer Diego “El Cigala” will also be on hand to present a documentary.

The festivals inaugural ceremony, scheduled for Friday at the Karl Marx Theater, will feature a performance by the Camerata Romeu Chamber Music Ensemble, and pianist Alejandro Falcon, and the exhibit of 2017 Brazilian film by Selton Mello "O Filme da Minha Vida" (The Movie of My Life)

During the 10-day festival, the main movie houses of the Cuban capital will play over 400 films, the majority of them hailing from Latin American countries.
