Cuban Workers Confederation Call Big March on May Day

Havana, March 17, (RHC), -- The Cuban Workers’ Confederation (CTC) called a huge March to mark May Day in support of the current update of Cuban economy aimed at making the socialist system more prosperous.

May Day celebrations this year will have a special meaning since it will support the development of our economy so that it favors  efficiency and strengthens the prosperous and sustainable socialism that we are committed to build in order to increase the quality of life of our people, read a communiqué by the Confederation as it called the march. 

The celebrations will also back the improvement of state socialist companies and the development of new economic development formulas. 

The call to the march also emphasizes Cuban sovereignty and independence and the common struggle of Latin American and Caribbean nations for a fairer and supportive future, along all other nations of the world.

The Confederation also expressed its satisfaction for the return to Cuba by Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, and expressed its determination to keep the battle for the return of the other three anti-terrorist fighters still held in US prisons.

On May Day, all Cuban workers will also mark the 55 anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, the 75 birthday of their confederation and the 40 anniversary of the death of outstanding union leader Lazaro Peña.
