Santa Clara, May 17 (RHC)—The two-day governmental visit to the Central Province of Villa Clara came to a close Thursday with a meeting of president Miguel Diaz-Canel and his delegation with local authorities.

During the encounter, it was acknowledged that since the first visit 9 months ago, there has been progress in several sectors, while in others there are still some issues that demand great attention like the water distribution network in the territory.

Diaz Canel stressed that there is a lot to be done in the province, and urged authorities to work “to overcome the inertia of those who feel tired, instilling enthusiasm and optimism in those who are committed, and understanding that the beauty of difficult moments relies in the size of the challenges.” He also encouraged his audience to make of the good and exceptional experiences the rule of day.

Prior to the meeting, the Cuban leader visited the Cardiology Center of Santa Clara, highly recognized island wide for its remarkable results in the treatment of heart diseases. The Center is currently undergoing some changes in its infrastructures.

The president spoke with executives of the health, construction sectors and medical staff to assess the investment process underway in the center, that serves patients from the six central provinces of the island.

The expansion will add new offices for consultation, diagnosis and operating rooms, and will see the setting up of new top notch equipment. All told there will be 27 new rooms for 54 new beds.
