Valdes Mesa greets Eswatini King, Mswati III

Havana, May 28 (RHC)-- Cuba's first vice president, Salvador Valdes Mesa, traveled to the Kingdom of Eswatini on Monday after a successful visit to South Africa.

Valdés Mesa and his delegation held meetings with King Mswati III, Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini and the head of parliament, Petros Mavimbela.

Likewise, during its stay in the city of Mbabane, capital of the kingdom of former Swaziland, the official delegation held meetings with the Cuban medical brigade made up of 20 doctors who provide services in the small South African country.

During the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the independence from British Colonial rule, on April 20, 2018, King Mswati III announced the change of the country´s name, reverting to its original name, thus eliminating vestiges of the colonial past.

Eswatini means “place of the Swazi”, and Swatini is the Swazi language name for the country.
