Havana, March 31 (RHC)--The Cuban television and radio news program Mesa Redonda-- Round Table, denounced Tuesday that Twitter had suspended its account, @mesaredondacuba.

When attempting to reach the account, a message reads Account Suspended. Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules.

This is the latest attempt by the San Francisco-based social-networking service to silence Cuban news outlets.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, it has become customary by Twitter to suspend the account of the Round Table program every time there are news-making events on the island.

According to the complaint issued by the program, posted on the Cubadebate website, the closing of social media accounts of Cuban media outlets has been taking place regularly in recent years.

It recalled that on September 11 last year,  minutes before a Round Table edition featuring Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, the country suffered the effects of a special information blackout operation executed by Twitter.

On that occasion, a good part of the country's media, dozens of journalists and personalities, saw their accounts on that social network blocked.
Just last week Prensa Latina news agency denounced the blocking of its corporate account, as well as those of its president and editors.
