Vienna, May 6 (RHC)-- The Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (OKG) reiterated its condemnation of the blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation and sent another donation of five thousand euros in support of the fight against COVID-19.

Cuba has practiced international solidarity for decades and meanwhile, the sanctions and the economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States continue, violating international law, complicating or preventing access to urgently needed medicines, food, fuel and medical device.

The OKG presented a call on the Internet to gather signatures against this unilateral and hostile policy under the title "Cuba helps, we help Cuba! End the end of the blockade!"  The petition has already gathered more than 500 signatures, according to the source.

Also, as part of its fundraising campaign to support Cuba in confronting the pandemic, it contributed five thousand euros for the purchase of pulmonary ventilators.

This is in addition to another 15,000 euros sent at the end of March for the purchase of materials, equipment and reagents needed to identify and treat cases of COVID-19.   The donation was made through the mediCuba-Europe network that groups associations and non-governmental entities from 13 States.

Founded in 1969, the OKG is one of the oldest organizations of friendship with Cuba in Europe and is active throughout Austria.
