Ciego de Ávila, November 23 (RHC)-- The opening of three outbreak controls due to international travelers who tested positive for COVID-19 is setting off alarms in Ciego de Ávila, a municipality recently declared in the second recovery phase, after a long and aggressive outbreak of the disease.

The Defense Council meeting on Sunday learned that one of the SARS CoV-2 carriers violated the established protocol for people arriving from abroad and did not comply with the isolation period when visiting various places, so he is under criminal proceedings for spreading the epidemic.

Authorities assess each place he visited to take the necessary measures and isolate all the people he contacted.

Carlos Luis Garrido Perez, president of the provincial Defence Council, warned that the risk has increased with the airports' opening so the guard should not be let down. On the contrary, it is necessary to work with greater integration, coherence, and communication between all the factors.

Garrido stressed the importance of individual responsibility and that it was essential to act in each community with agility to control travelers who have come from abroad.
