Cuba reports 580 new COVID-19 infections and 4 fatalities

Havana, February 9 (RHC)—The National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, informed on Tuesday that Cuba reported 580 new infections of COVID-19 and four fatalities in the last 24 hours.

 

Havana province recorded the highest number with 292, followed by Santiago de Cuba with 87.

 

In an update briefing on national TV, the specialist said that there 16 215 people admitted to health facilities as of midnight, there are 5071 active cases.

 

The network of laboratories processed 19 332 for the detection of Sars-Cov-2. Dr.Duran says that the island’s goal is to perform some 20,000 PCR tests daily.

 

With the latest data, Cuba accumulates 34 064 positive cases and 244 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic.
