In a meeting held on Saturday by videoconference with 2,600 leaders from all over the country.

Havana, May 23 (RHC)-- The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Miguel Díaz-Canel, called for perfecting the working methods and styles of the political organization and promoting the broadest democracy from within it.

In a meeting held on Saturday by videoconference with 2,600 leaders from all over the country, he mentioned the general lines for the debate that will begin soon in the Caribbean nation on the agreements, ideas, and guidelines adopted in the 8th Congress of the PCC, held last April.

We need the process to be interpreted as unity and continuity, for which the moral authority of the Party is fundamental, said Diaz-Canel.

He referred to how the PCC needs to give more participation, work collectively, and represent the entire population's interests without accepting divisions among revolutionaries.

In this regard, the President emphasized that attention to violence against women, the new Family Code, discrimination, and environmental issues, should be part of the Party's work.

He called to debate with objectivity the ideas and concepts resulting from the party gathering, whose documents will be sent to the grassroots of the PCC in the next few days.

The First Secretary urged the members to reflect on the leadership of the PCC and insisted on the importance of revitalizing the work of the mass organizations in line with their historical functions and the current context.

Likewise, he considered pillars of the Party the informatization of society, the support in science and innovation to face the problems, and the use of communication, based on the government's management.

Regarding the political-ideological work, the President remarked that the members of the organization and the media have to be the first to criticize Cuba's problems and expose the truths promptly so as not to leave room for fake news.

Next week, the top leadership of the Party will initiate working meetings with the political and mass organizations and a tour of all the provinces to promote a process of the discussion focused on implementing what was agreed at the 8th Congress.

According to what was reported at the meeting, there are more than one million Cubans among PCC and Young Communist League members, whom Díaz-Canel called upon to have more participation in the social, economic and political life of the country.
