Hanoi, July 29 (RHC)-- Vietnam donated 12 thousand tons of rice to Cuba to help it face the food difficulties derived from the US blockade and the Covid-19 pandemic.

When making the symbolic delivery of the shipment, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh explained Thursday that of that volume, 10 thousand tons were donated by the Communist Party (VCP), the State, and the Vietnamese people.

The VCP Committee in Hanoi contributed the remaining 2,000 tons to Havana.

These donations, said the head of government, demonstrate the special bonds of fraternity and solidarity that unite us with Cuba.

We will accompany the Cuban people side by side. In the most difficult moments of our history, the Cuban people stood by us and made valid the phrase of their leader Fidel Castro 'For Vietnam Cuba is willing to give even its own blood', he said.

The island's ambassador to Vietnam, Orlando Hernandez Guillen, quoted the first secretary of the Communist Party and president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, who described the gesture as a vivid manifestation of Vietnam's unchanging solidarity and a source of encouragement for the Revolution and the Cuban people.
