Havana, July 11 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, on the occasion of World Population Day, highlighted today on his X account the priority the country places on addressing demographic dynamics, aware that people are the main resource for achieving economic and social goals.
For his part, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla reaffirmed on the same social network the importance the nation places on sustainable development, gender equality, and guaranteeing the right to health for all.
World Population Day has been celebrated since 1990 at the initiative of the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Its main objective is to raise awareness about all the issues currently affecting the world's population, especially those related to the growth and development of nations.
This year, the United Nations commemorates the date under the slogan "Empowering youth to form the families they want in a just and hopeful world," to focus on ensuring that young people have the rights, resources, and opportunities to decide their own future.
According to the latest World Population Review study, the current world population is 8,005,176,000 people, with the most populous countries being India, China, the United States, Indonesia, and Pakistan.
