Paris, Sep 15 (RHC) The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando Gonzalez Llort, received the medal of the French National Assembly from Francois Michel Lambert, head of the Friendship Group in the chamber.

Gonzalez, Hero of the Republic of Cuba and deputy, held several meetings during the morning with French parliamentarians from various political forces, to whom he thanked the support of the France-Cuba Friendship Group in the National Assembly and encouraged to promote the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (ADPC) between Cuba and the European Union.

The leader denounced the pressures of Cuba's enemies in the European Parliament to try to stop the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement, signed in December 2016 between the government of Havana, the EU and its member states.

Gonzalez, who is on a working visit in France, met the day before with mayors of the Paris region with whom he agreed to develop cooperation programs in sectors that may be of mutual interest and propitiate the rapprochement between municipalities of both countries.

In this line, the head of ICAP highlighted the work carried out by the Cuba-Cooperation Association, in the promotion of projects for the benefit of Cuban cities and institutions.

At the same time, he explained to the French elected officials the current situation in Cuba in the context of the health crisis and the progress of the vaccination campaign, and the devastating effects of the reinforcement of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against the Caribbean nation.

The mayors were unanimous in rejecting the blockade against Cuba and expressed their solidarity and support to the Cuban people in the defense of their sovereignty and independence. (Source: Prensa Latina)
