Brussels, November 6 (RHC)-- Cuban and Belgian institutions strengthened their academic and scientific cooperation ties in recent days during a visit of a delegation from the University of Oriente.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the vice-rector of Graduate Studies, Science and Innovation of that institution, Rosa María Reyes, described the stay on Belgian soil since the end of October as beneficial and highlighted the meetings held between the parties.

According to Reyes, the purpose of the visit was to verify and evaluate the progress of a joint project of the University of Oriente and the Belgian technical cooperation agency VLIR-UOS. This initiative is in its ninth year of implementation.

We participated in the meeting of coordinators from both countries of the six projects included in a collaboration that is advancing in its second phase, in a scientific workshop, and in several meetings for follow-up and exploration of new links, she explained.

Reyes pointed out that cooperation with the VLIR-UOS agency has yielded significant results for the Universidad de Oriente, which has improved its infrastructure for research, the computerization of processes, and access to modern information and communication technologies.
