Havana, December 2 (RHC)—Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez congratulated the island’s Revolutionary Armed Forces –FAR--, on their 65th anniversary.

On Twitter, Diaz-Canel described FAR as the school, shield, and pride of the nation. They were the first to get involved in the fight against COVID-19 and provide oxygen to the hospitals.

The Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces always go at the forefront in the life struggles, he added.

Meanwhile, the Revolutionary Armed Forces Ministry congratulated the founders, current and reserve members, militiamen and women, and all the revolutionary people that somewhere or somehow defend the homeland island-wide.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces,  established on December 2, 1961, takes as its day of foundation the same day of 1956, in which the Granma Yacht, carrying 82 people led by Fidel Castro, landed in Las Coloradas, in Eastern Cuba, to start the final struggle that culminated with the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.
