Havana, December 18 (RHC)-- Army General Raul Castro Ruz proposed to the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers to draft a proposal of measures to rescue the sugar industry.

The Executive endorsed the proposal and created a temporary working group, considering the sector's importance and the decline in its production levels.

The draft, presented to the Plenary of the Party's Central Committee by Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, member of the Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister, reports on the approved measures, including those related to sugarcane derivatives and electricity generation.

The new provisions also cover financial, banking, logistics, business management, human potential, science, technology, and innovation actions.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel defined them as an integral transformation strategy that requires a change of mentality, and the training of those who manage the sector, in addition to having as a priority the planting of sugarcane in quantity and quality.
