Havana, May 12 (RHC)-- Cuban Public Health Minister José Ángel Portal Miranda on Thursday recognized the work of nursing professionals, highlighting their altruism, dedication, and professionalism.

On the occasion of the celebration of International Nurses Day on May 12, Portal posted a message on Twitter highlighting the enormous contribution of these men and women to health and well-being.

Also, through the social network Facebook, Portal Miranda pointed out that nurses play an essential role in building resilient health systems.

"All over the world, and without leaving aside other health services, nurses were on the front line of the battle against COVID-19 and have been the soul of vaccination to prevent this and other diseases," the minister wrote.

Every May 12, International Nurses Day is celebrated as a tribute to Florence Nightingale, considered the mother of modern nursing.
