Havana, Dec 30 (RHC) Public Health Minister José Ángel Portal Miranda evaluated Friday in the province of Pinar del Río the functioning of services and the execution of maintenance actions in health institutions.

 

According to a report by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), in the municipality of Consolación del Sur, the minister exchanged with the medical staff of the Entronque de Pilotos clinic, where he inquired about the work in the community and the main dissatisfactions of the population.

 

While visiting the investment of the hemodialysis room of the Primero de Enero municipal polyclinic, the minister highlighted the importance of improving the construction conditions in the sector's facilities, to improve the quality of patient care.

 

Portal Miranda also exchanged with Public Health administrators in the presentation of the process of recovery of the services in the province, the most affected by the devastating hurricane Ian last September.

 

During the meeting, the Minister pointed out that the progress of these rehabilitation actions is noticeable, and highlighted the commitment of the health workers to recover their jobs.

 

Category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale (out of a total of five) Hurricane Ian passed over Cuba on September 27, causing severe damage to housing infrastructure, energy supply, telecommunications, and agriculture.

 

Pinar del Río was the territory most affected by the direct impact of the meteorological phenomenon, with 89,071 damaged houses, which represents almost half of the province's housing stock.

 

According to local authorities, some 319 health centers also suffered some kind of damage. (Source: ACN)
