Moscow, Jun 16 (RHC)-- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov received on Thursday Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas, who is participating in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Lavrov and Cabrisas ratified the excellent state of bilateral political relations. They once again insisted on the importance of continuing to deepen economic, trade, financial, and cooperation ties.

The Russian Foreign Minister confirmed the continuity of his country's historical position against the U.S. blockade of Cuba.

Cabrisas appreciated that position and acknowledged Moscow's assistance to the island in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the context of his participation in the international meeting on Thursday, the high-ranking Cuban official held talks with Anton Kobyakov, presidential advisor and vice-president of the Forum's Organizing Committee; and with Sergey Glaziev, minister of Economic Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The 25th edition of  SPIEF's central theme is "The New World, New Opportunities ."Its program is divided into four thematic axes focusing on the global and Russian economy, the social and technological plan, and the development of human potential.

Over the past two decades, the St. Petersburg Forum has become a leading global platform for communication between business community representatives, promoting cooperation and discussion of key economic issues facing the country, emerging markets, and the world.
