Matanzas, August 9 (RHC)—Cuban media outlets reported the arrival Tuesday morning in Matanzas harbor of the Bourbon Artabaze, a Mexican flagged  offshore supply ship used to fight fires.

This is an important contribution from Mexico, whose President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was among the first to respond to the Cuban request for international aid to deal with the accident.

The blaze has kept several oil storage tanks burning at the Supertanker Base located in the industrial zone of Matanzas.

There are several continuous flights from Mexico with experts, firefighters, equipment, and supplies such as foam and chemicals to suffocate the fire.

The same arrives from Venezuela, whose experts are working side by side with Cubans and Mexicans in this contingency that began on August 5, when lightning struck one of the crude oil tanks of the most extensive fuel storage and transfer center of the Caribbean island.

Since then, the incident has caused the collapse of three tanks and has affected another of battery of eight tanks at the Supertanker Base.
