Vietnam and Cuba signed agreements and consolidated cooperation

Hanoi, Sept 29 (RHC) The governments of Vietnam and Cuba, represented by Prime Ministers Pham Minh Chinh and Manuel Marrero Cruz, signed three agreements aimed at strengthening and consolidating cooperation in various fields.

 

An action plan to implement the bilateral economic agenda in the medium term (2023-2025) was signed by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, and by the Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi, who also co-chairs the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission.

 

Yael Pérez Brito, who heads Cuba's Agriculture Ministry, signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the agri-food sector with Vietnam's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Le Minh Hoan.

 

Finally, the Cuban Minister of Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, and the acting Minister of Health in Vietnam, Dao Hong Lan, signed the action plan to carry forward the memorandum of understanding signed in 2021 between the two portfolios.

Manuel Marrero receives decorations in Vietnam

 

Before the signing of the documents, Marrero Cruz was distinguished with the Ho Chi Minh Order, in recognition of his important contributions to the consolidation of the traditional ties of brotherhood, cooperation, and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

 

Prime Minister Marrero, together with his counterpart Minh Chinh, also led the official talks held here this morning.

 

Marrero Cruz began the official program of his three-day visit by paying tribute to the memory of Vietnam's independence hero, President Ho Chi Minh.

 

Today, he will also hold a meeting with the head of the National Assembly (Parliament), Vuong Dinh Hue; pay a courtesy call on the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), Nguyen Phu Trong, and hold talks with Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

 

On Friday 30, the prime minister and his entourage will participate in a Vietnam-Cuba Business Forum and then meet with members of the state mission, Cuban residents here, and representatives of solidarity groups, before traveling to the southern city of Ho Chi Minh City.

 

In that metropolis, they will visit the historic Cu Chi tunnels, and the High Technology Industrial Park and hold meetings with government and political leaders of the city.

 

From Ho Chi Minh City, Marrero Cruz will travel on October 2 to Vientiane, the second stage of his tour of Southeast Asia, his first in his capacity as head of government. (Source: PL)
