Cuban Ambassador thanks French city and association for their support

Paris, Nov 6 (RHC) Cuban Ambassador to France Otto Vaillant thanked Saturday the city of Tremblay, France, and the Cuba Coopération France -CubaCoop- association for their solidarity and support to our country, after an intense day dedicated to the Caribbean nation.

Vaillant intervened with a message of recognition to the local authorities, headed by Mayor François Asensi, after the meeting called "Tremblay with the colors of Cuba", with the participation of the youth boxing team of the Caribbean country, which trains in the commune of the Parisian Region for its participation this month in the world championship of the category in Spain.

He also highlighted the support of CubaCoop and its president, Víctor Fernández, in various projects, among which is the accompaniment of athletes from the island in their preparation for the Paris-2024 Olympic Games.

The diplomat also highlighted the rejection of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, a condemnation ratified by both Asensi and Fernández.

The city of Tremblay, France, and CubaCoop organized this Saturday the meeting dedicated to the island, in which sports and culture were combined.

Local children, youth, and adults shared with the nine Cuban boxers who are preparing for the world championship in Alicante and their trainers.

One of the activities of the day that generated the most interest was the friendly match between visiting boxers and an amateur team from Paris.

In declarations to Prensa Latina, Mayor Asensi expressed his satisfaction with the welcome given to the youth delegation from the island and praised the successful tradition of Cuban boxing.

For his part, Fernandez considered that the meeting was evidence of what can be achieved through the project launched earlier this year by CubaCoop, aimed at promoting the presence of athletes from the Caribbean country in French cities for their preparation with a view to Paris-2024.
