Victor Fernández, France Cubacoop

Paris, Dec 29 (RHC) In a message of good wishes for the end of 2022 and the arrival of the new year, the Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) association affirmed that in 2023 it will continue promoting collaboration with the island, and ratified its condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

In a message of good wishes for the end of 2022 and the arrival of the new year, the president of the organization, Víctor Fernández, pointed out the objective of making 2023 a great period in cooperation between France and Cuba, a goal that guides the association for the past three decades.

Fernández denounced in the weekly publication La Lettre électronique Hebdo the suffering caused to the Caribbean nation by the blockade of Washington, which he described as unjustified, and recalled the rejection that this policy generates in the international community.

No country in the world faces such treatment; The United States maintains and intensifies the blockade, causing terrible suffering to the Cuban population, he stressed.

In this sense, he repudiated the intention of successive administrations in the White House to appeal to the blockade to impose a regime change on the island, despite the US discourse of commitment to democracy and human rights.

The United States presents itself as “the great democrat and champion of the free world,” and at the same time denies the right of the Cuban people, cultured, hard-working, and supportive, to independently decide their destiny, he criticized.

The president of CubaCoop called for urgent and coordinated action against the blockade and advocated that European governments accompany with concrete actions their condemnation of the siege applied by Washington, expressed in resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly since 1992.

We ask President Emmanuel Macron to commit himself in this direction and make France’s voice heard, he added.

Regarding the work of CubaCoop, Fernández highlighted that several collaboration projects with the island are underway, for which he requested support and thanked the support provided so far. (Source: PL)
