International Seminar on Canadian Studies

Havana, Nov 9 (RHC) The 19th International seminar on Canadian Studies will begin today for two days at the University of Havana's Convention Center with a focus on collaboration projects between the two countries.

The meeting resumes its annual character, after a pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and will focus on strategic relations for the development between Cuba and Canada, although there will also be historical, economic, and diplomatic conferences.

It will also address issues related to the Canadian tourism market in the Caribbean nation, the promotion of cooperation, cultural relations, and social vulnerabilities in the Caribbean nation.

The president of the Canada Studies Chair, Reynaldo Jiménez, explained to Prensa Latina that this seminar is being held to "share research results, strengthen relations with universities in that country in the northern hemisphere and identify common areas to develop collaboration projects".

The event will be attended by Geoff Gartshore, Canadian ambassador to the island; Maday Alonso del Rivero Antigua, vice-rector of the University of Havana and Marta Rosa Muñoz, director of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso-Cuba). (Source: PL)
