Cuban Vice President Receives Distinction in Colombia

Bogota, August 7 (RHC) -– Cuban Vice President and Comptroller General Gladys Bejerano was granted the Medal of Merit for the Transparency of Fiscal Control in Colombia, where she is heading the island’s delegation to the swearing-in ceremony of President Juan Manuel Santos.

Colombia’s Comptroller General Sandra Morelli gave the distinction to her Cuban counterpart at a ceremony in Bogota, in recognition for the results of her work, according to Prensa Latina news agency.

Upon receiving the distinction, Bejerano gave a brief presentation on the Cuban Comptroller’s Office, its performance and objectives. She said that the results obtained thus far and the prestige gained by her institution encourages further efforts to guarantee higher efficiency in the control of economic activities, particularly in times of economic reform.

The two officials also held a private meeting to address issues of common interest and they referred to the need to strengthen the exchange of experiences between their offices.
