Havana, Dec 13 (RHC) A representation of Cuban media professionals and international experts today discussed the future of the sector in the face of the evolution of information technologies and the deployment of destabilizing campaigns.

During the workshop "Toolbox for political communication and audiovisual production in the convergence scenario", participants will learn about regional experiences on the use of virtual networks and platforms in terms of public agendas.

Organized by the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), whose national headquarters hosts the hybrid meetings (digital and face-to-face), the first day of the event included a lecture by Argentine María Fernanda Ruíz, an expert in digital political communication, who will set the pace of the meeting throughout the week.

In this first approach, the specialist of the Instituto Patria in the South American nation highlighted the value of professional preparation in the sector to face media campaigns and to include progressive interests in the public agenda.

In the coming days, other specialists such as the Argentine sociologist and journalist Daniel Rosso, whose lecture will focus on discourse analysis, will speak, while book presentations and a workshop on hate speech and polarization on digital platforms will also take place.

The event will host some renowned experts who will later participate in the sessions of the second edition of the Patria International Colloquium, which will take place in March 2023 with the premise of emphasizing a more open social projection than in its first edition.

The upcoming event will bring together journalists, intellectuals, artists, and communicators from several countries to discuss the policy of economic asphyxiation and media siege directed against leftist governments and the ways to face it (Source: Prensa Latina).
