Panamanian social leaders demanded an end to the blockade imposed by the U.S. on Cuba

Panama City, Jan 4 (RHC) Panamanian social leaders demanded on Tuesday an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government on Cuba for more than six decades.

In statements to Prensa Latina to salute the 64th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, the president of the party Frente Amplio por la Democracia (FAD), Dr. Fernando Cebamanos highlighted the resistance of the Caribbean people and their example of dignity for the region and the world.

On the occasion of the 62nd anniversary this January 3 of the rupture of diplomatic relations between the United States and the largest of the Antilles, the political leader expressed his unconditional support and solidarity with the struggle of the Cubans for full sovereignty and their own economic and social system.

On the other hand, he rejected the presence in the eastern province of Guantanamo of a U.S. military base and demanded the White House return that illegally occupied territory to its true owners.

Also, economist Maribel Gordón, presidential pre-candidate for free nomination, who represents the progressive forces towards the general elections in 2024, pointed out that the revolutionary victory of 1959 and its subsequent social work are an inspiration to other peoples of the world in their yearnings for self-determination.

While the coordinator of the National Front for Economic and Social Rights (Frenadeso), Jorge Guzmán, said that Panamanians are identified with the heroism and detachment of the Cuban people, as demonstrated by the contribution of their best doctors in the isthmus during the complex moments of the Covid-19.

For his part, university student Antonhy Guevara, of the group Pensamiento y Acción Transformadora (PAT) mentioned that it is worth admiring and imitating the firmness of the Cuban Revolution in the face of the US blockade, amid difficulties but without losing the right to defend its sovereignty.

Regarding the blockade, Guevara affirmed that it is criminal and has intensified considerably, as a practice of genocide against its humble and working people, for which reason it is destined to fail. (Source: Prensa Latina).
