Pinar del Río, Jan 12 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz- Canel heads a meeting on Thursday with the main leaders of the western province of Pinar del Río, where they analyzed the territory's potential to make 2023 a better year.

The president, together with Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister, and Roberto Morales, secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC, evaluate the conditions and proposals of the province from the economic and social point of view, which allows an increase in the production goods, the quality of services and make the most of the available human capital.

Vueltabajo must make up for the damages caused by Hurricane Ian, last September 27, hence the challenges are greater in terms of raising the quality of life of the population.

Díaz-Canel insisted on the importance of producing more food in the region and not only focusing on tobacco development. "It is a priority to take advantage of idle land, create a greater culture in the use of agroecology, and enhance local productive systems" he specified.

In this context, Manuel Marrero Cruz announced on his Twitter account the visit to Pinar del Río and Artemisa, as part of the tour they are carrying out throughout the country, to evaluate the actions in each territory to face the current situation in the economic, social and political order.

Regarding the beginning of these exchanges in Ciego de Avila and Sancti Spiritus, the Cuban president posted on his Twitter account that they will reach the whole country, in a open and hopeful debate. (Source: Agencies)
