Havana, Feb 6 (RHC) The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, is carrying out a program of meetings with Cuban authorities as part of his working visit to the Antillean nation.

Cuban diplomatic sources informed that during his stay the visitor will hold talks with authorities and carry out other activities of interest.

Torres expects to visit the colonies of the Canary Islanders, as well as to hold different political, economic, and institutional meetings, according to the Canary Islands government.

In the Spanish community, there is a strong movement of solidarity with Havana that includes actions condemning the U.S. blockade and collaboration and cooperation projects mainly in the pharmaceutical sector.

Cuba is home to a large number of emigrants from the Canary Islands, popularly known as isleños, who settled mainly in the western part of the country and sugar production areas. (Source: Prensa Latina)
