Havana, Feb 8 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel held an exchange in Havana on Wednesday with H.E.R. Cardinal Beniamino Stella, envoy of Pope Francis.

 

Through his Twitter account, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba recalled the 25th anniversary of John Paul II's apostolic trip to Cuba, noting that the historic visit marked a transcendental moment in relations between the Vatican and the Island.

During the exchange with Pope Francis' envoy, the Head of State renewed Cuba's commitment to continue working for the strengthening of relations with the Holy See.

 

He also thanked Pope Francis' gestures of closeness and affection towards the Cuban people.

 

Through his Twitter account, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted his exchange with H.E.R.H. Cardinal Beniamino Stella and the current state of relations between the Vatican and Cuba, which reached its 88th anniversary this year. He also ratified the willingness to continue working to strengthen ties.

This Wednesday in the Aula Magna of the University of Havana held the ceremony for the 25th anniversary of the apostolic journey of St. John Paul II to the largest of the Antilles.
