Cuba expresses condolences to Greece for railway accident

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, expressed this Wednesday to the people and Government of Greece, solidarity and deep regret after the railway accident that occurred near the city of Larissa, with a balance of at least 36 dead and more than 85 injured.

Havana, March 2 (RHC)-- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, expressed this Wednesday to the people and Government of Greece, solidarity and deep regret after the railway accident that occurred near the city of Larissa, with a balance of at least 36 dead and more than 85 injured.

Through his Twitter profile, the foreign minister sent condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured by the collision of a passenger train with a cargo train that was traveling along the same route.

According to the spokesman for the Greek Fire Service, Vassilis Varthakogiannis, the passenger train, with some 350 people on board, covered the route from Athens, the capital, to Thessaloniki.

Until now, the search for people trapped in the rubble by rescue teams continues, while the exact circumstances that caused the tragic accident are being investigated. (Source: ACN)
