16th Meeting of Investigative Searches 2023 between educators from Cuba and the United States concluded with positive results

Havana, Mar 26 (RHC) The 16th Meeting of Investigative Searches 2023 between educators from Cuba and the United States concluded with positive results and the desire to promote a lasting friendship.

The event, sponsored by the Association of Pedagogues of Cuba (APC) and the Association of Educators of Latin America and the Caribbean (AELAC), brought together 42 professors in Master’s and Doctoral training from George Washington and Maryland universities (United States) and a similar number of experts from western Cuba.

At the final session, participants continued their work in eight commissions, where they debated issues such as education in values, the situation of higher education in both countries, governance in education, teacher training, and information and communication technology.

The head of the US delegation, Taylor Wodman, told Prensa Latina about the favorable impact of these exchanges, which help, from the academic and pedagogical points of view, to break the financial, economic and commercial blockade imposed by several US administrations on the Cuban people for more than six decades.

We are here to offer Cubans solidarity, teaching experiences, and love and to receive from you all the wisdom achieved in the field of education, Wodman said.

In the conclusion of the meeting, the imprint of more cooperation and the exchange of postgraduate programs with higher education centers in this field prevailed.

Cuban academic institutions presented papers on three thematic axes, including current relations between Cuba and the United States.

During the closing session, Gilberto Garcia, president of the Association of Cuban Pedagogues, commented that 29 years after its creation, the meeting shows the majority age among Cuban and US education professionals.

We have more than 42,000 associates throughout Cuba, and we maintain international agreements with Germany, Colombia, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, always in close collaboration.

The 17th Meeting of Investigative Searches will be held in the central province of Camagüey on this same date in 2024. (Source: PL)
