Young Cubans learn about efforts to fight poverty in China

Havana, May 5 (RHC) – Cuban young diplomats and students learned about China's efforts and progress in the fight against poverty, during an exchange seminar organized today by China’s Central School of the Communist Youth League.

In the event, held in Lingqiu county, in the northern province of Shanxi, members of the Union of Young Communists from the Cuban embassy in China participated, and were able to get closer to China’s experiences in eliminating extreme poverty and promoting development, especially in rural areas.

During the symposium, representatives of the two nations agreed that the fight to eradicate poverty must be a commitment assumed with full responsibility by all States.

Zhou Peng, secretary of the Lingqiu County Committee of China’s Communist Party said that his country has made efforts to build a governance of social leadership to work on the elimination of poverty, and outlined the efforts made in rural areas to promote the development and well-being of all residents.

As part of the seminar, today the young Cubans visited the headquarters of the Communist Party of China at the Mass Service Center in the city of Yanshan, in the province of Hebei, where they learned about the social work dedicated to offering cultural, educational and recreational services to the residents of the area.

These exchanges are part of the activities for the anniversaries of Cuba’s Union of Young Communists and China’s Central School of the Communist Youth League, and seek to take the links between both nations’ youth organizations to higher levels. (Source: Prensa Latina)
