Havana, May 22 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel checked on Monday the economic and social development strategies in the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud.

This is the fifteenth meeting headed by the head of state to evaluate the commitments made by local authorities and representatives of demarcations, with the purpose of making 2023 a better year for Cubans, the Presidency of the Republic reported on Twitter.

The dignitary recently explained that the cycle of meetings was based on the objective of achieving in the shortest possible time, "to overcome the difficult situation that the country is experiencing as part of this economic and social crisis that we had already foreseen that we had to face since the times of Covid-19, and towards which the world was going to evolve".

He added that the main issues analyzed were food production, the energy issue, services to the population, the fight against crime and phenomena such as corruption.

Díaz-Canel valued the meetings as very critical and self-critical, and stressed that there were no sweetened reports or complacency.

The Cuban president informed that next September there will be another tour of all the provinces of the country, and affirmed that he is convinced that at that time there will be better results.
