National Rebellion Day celebrated at Mausoleum in Cuban province

Sancti Spíritus, Jul 23 (RHC) The Comandante Camilo Cienfuegos Historical Complex shows today its best finery with Cuban flags, July 26 and dissimilar colors to celebrate the central act of Sancti Spíritus for the National Rebellion Day.

 The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (PCC) agreed to grant the headquarters of the National Act for the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks, on July 26, to the province of Santiago de Cuba.

In addition, Sancti Spiritus and Cienfuegos, were granted the status of outstanding provinces for their stability and progress in the main tasks, as well as recognized the results of Ciego de Avila and Matanzas.

Since the dawn of this Sunday, thousands of people fill the esplanade of the Mausoleum, National Monument, presided over by a sculpture of the Hero of Yaguajay, Commander of Column 2 Antonio Maceo, who fought his last combat here against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista (1952-1958), the prelude to the liberation of Cuba.

Deivy Pérez, member of the Central Committee of the PCC and its first secretary in the province, stressed that this act is reached with results in different fronts of society and urged to face greater challenges to achieve food sovereignty, the support of each community, with a higher standard of living for its inhabitants.

He highlighted among the qualities that made it possible to achieve the distinction of Outstanding province for the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, the spirit of work, the capacity of resistance and the daily fulfillment of duty as "espirituanos" and revolutionaries.

The territory is leading the way in the Maternal and Child Care Program, Primary Health Care and in the results of the entrance exams to Higher Education in careers that benefit local development.

This spiritual zone, center of the Northern Front of Las Villas, since the arrival of Camilo and his fighters in October 1958 and after completing the invasion from the East, ordered by Fidel Castro, fought and liberated the towns of Seibabo, Venegas, Zulueta, General Carrillo, Jarahueca, Iguará, Meneses, Mayajigua and finally Yaguajay.(Source: Prensa Latina)
