Hugo Chávez is remembered in Cuba on the anniversary of his birth

Havana, July 28 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today recalled the legacy of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of his birth.

"Cuba's best friend was born on a day like today 69 years ago. His absence, too early, still hurts, but we will always celebrate his life. For the infinite legacy he left in all Our America: Congratulations Comandante Chávez", wrote the Head of State in his Twitter account.

On his part, the Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, pointed out through this social network, that Chávez was the leader of a true and profound Revolution and is still "present among us".

He affirmed that each day of resistance of the Venezuelan people, who do not bend before adversities, reaffirms the loyalty and commitment to his struggle.

Venezuelan politician and military man, Hugo Chávez (1954-2013), was described by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, as Cuba's best friend.

Chávez led the destiny of his country from 1999 until his death on March 5, 2013, after a tenacious fight against cancer which finally took his life at the age of 59.
