Abel Prieto met in Nicaragua with the Cuban state mission

 

Havana, Aug 15 (RHC) The prominent Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto this Tuesday met in Managua, Nicaragua, with members of the Cuban state mission, with whom he discussed issues of political, economic and cultural interest.

At the island's diplomatic headquarters in Managua, the also president of Casa de las Américas updated those present on the economic situation Cuba is facing due to the tightening of the US blockade.

He mentioned the media campaigns and lies orchestrated from the northern nation against the largest of the Antilles, which seek to delegitimize the economic, commercial and financial siege that Washington has imposed on Havana for more than six decades.

As part of his stay in Nicaragua, he received from the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in Humanities.

In addition, in the Fernando Gordillo auditorium of that Nicaraguan university, the Cuban writer and several panelists staged a conversation in which they addressed, among other topics, the political-cultural legacy of Fidel Castro and Tomás Borge.

Prieto arrived in Nicaragua last Saturday invited by the Sandinista Government to participate, among other activities, in the commemoration of the 93rd anniversary of the birth of the founding member of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, Tomás Borge, and the 97th of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

As part of the visit to this Central American nation, the also deputy of Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power toured places of economic, political and cultural interest in the departments of Chinandega, León, Masaya and Granada. (Source: PL)
