Group of 77 welcomes Mexico's decision to rejoin the mechanism

Havana, Sep 16 (RHC) The director general of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Rodolfo Benítez, announced at a press conference that the G77 approved in Havana a separate declaration expressing the approval of the 134 member nations to the decision of the Mexican government to rejoin the group's work.

Benítez explained that the formal details of Mexico's reincorporation to the mechanism will be known at a later date, once the G77 and China Ministers' Meeting is held at the UN, which will be chaired by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

He also informed that the Third South Summit will be held in Kampala, Uganda, in the second half of January 2024.

In that context, he said, the pro tempore presidency of the mechanism will be transferred from Cuba to Uganda. (Cubadebate)
