Third International Cybersociety Congress begins in Cuba

Havana, Oct 16 (RHC) The 3rd International Cybersociety Congress began today in Havana to present the advances and projections of the Cuban digital agenda, along with other similar experiences in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

In a video sent to the participants, the island's Minister of Communications, Mayra Averich, said that this event will be very useful for the digital policy transformation process the country is experiencing.

During the opening ceremony, which was attended by the vice prime minister of the Republic, Jorge Luis Perdomo, it emerged that Cybersociety has become one of the main conferences in the field of Information and Communication technologies, both for the diversity and topicality of the themes that will be debated, as well as the large national and international participation.

Organized by the Union of Computer Scientists of Cuba (UIC), the conclave brings together more than 30 speakers and a hundred panelists and speakers from the academy, as well as representatives of the Government, business, new economic actors and entities that promote innovation.

The event, which will be held until October 20 at the emblematic Hotel Nacional, will address topics such as artificial intelligence and data science, digital skills, business digital transformation, cybersecurity, video games and immersive technologies.

Tatiana Slim, president of the Scientific Committee, explained that the program also includes topics related to the governance of digital transformation, local development, smart cities, digital transformation in health, next generation infrastructure (5G), digital innovation and industry 4.0.

The presentations will be broadcast live to virtual delegates on the UIC channel in Picta, making access easier for all interested parties when the event concludes. Subsequently, those interested will be able to consult the best papers presented.

Under the motto Digital Transformation: Global-Local Connection, participants will also learn the bases of the Digital Transformation Policy and the main lines of the Cuban Digital Agenda for 2030.

Likewise, a trade fair will be held, where the most representative products and services of the sponsoring companies will be exhibited, as well as an innovation fair to socialize the prototypes resulting from the Citizen Innovation Laboratory.

The winning prototypes of the 2023 Digital Hackathon will also be presented, an innovation competition in which participants come together to generate ideas and design solutions that meet the needs of society, through the participation of research and the potential integration of a digital component.
