Cuba's Vice Prime Minister highlights successes of biotechnology cooperation with China

Beijing, Oct 22 (RHC) Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas stressed today that biotechnology cooperation is a symbol of the ties between the island and China for the benefit of their peoples.

 According to diplomatic sources, the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment visited the northern province of Shanxi to see the advances in Research and Development (R&D) and production facilities of the subsidiary of the Biotech joint venture.

In an agenda of visits to four companies in Changzhi, provincial capital, Cabrisas reaffirmed the commitment of the Caribbean country in this relationship, backed by the Communist Party of Cuba, the State, the Government and the people.

According to publications on the social network X by the island's ambassador here, Alberto Blanco, the vice premier described this relationship as indestructible, full of hopes and objectives to be built and achieved jointly.

As part of his agenda, Cabrisas talked with government and party authorities of Shanxi, known as the cradle of Chinese civilization.

During these meetings, both parties agreed to consolidate and expand the sectors in which the nations collaborate.

Cabrisas is on a working visit to China and will co-chair the XXX Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic, commercial and financial relations.

According to a press release from the Caribbean Foreign Ministry, the Commission will allow strengthening the ties between both nations, reviewing and projecting the main issues of mutual interest, including those related to the scientific-technical area and bilateral cooperation.

In Beijing, the head of the Commission visited the facilities of the joint venture Biotech Pharmaceutical Limited (PBL), with important results in terms of biotechnological cooperation. Currently, BPL is promoting the creation of a subsidiary in the Changzhi Development Zone to expand bilateral cooperation in this enclave.

Recently, the director of BPL, Bai Xianhong, praised the biotechnological collaboration between China and Cuba, as well as its positive impact on the Asian giant.

In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, the executive thanked the island's experts for their contributions in the approval process of the humanized monoclonal antibody Nimotuzumab for the treatment of pancreatic cancer.(Source: PL)
