Cuba and Colombia sign memorandum in the area of ​​education

 

Havana, Dec 4 (RHC) The Cuban ambassador to Colombia, Javier Caamaño, and the Secretary of District Education of Bogotá, Edna Cristina Bonilla, signed today a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the terms of a strategic alliance in this field.

This alliance will promote, develop and strengthen mutual cooperation between the Secretariat of Education of Bogotá and the Ministry of Education of Cuba, and will contribute to the exchange of good practices in public policies, programs, experiences and knowledge around the educational field.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the representative of the Cuban educational mission in Colombia, Marbelys Cuéllar, explained the importance of a common agenda among the countries of the area, which enhances south-south cooperation.

In addition, it guarantees mobilization and joint action to promote compliance with Sustainable Development Goal number four for inclusive, equitable and quality education for all throughout life.

Cuéllar emphasized the necessary alliance with strategic actors that contribute to the strengthening of training processes in educational communities and the development of 21st-century skills.

She also highlighted the principle of collective action, co-responsibility, interdependence and integration, as guides in the work of educational work.

The areas of exchange included in the memorandum are curricular design and monitoring plans; experiences to enhance talent in the area of ​​science; programs for postgraduate academic training; phonics methodology in initial education; strengthening family capacities for parenting; and Human Rights Approach in public education.

This memorandum comes into effect as of this signature and will extend until December 31, 2024, or until either organization modifies or terminates it by mutual written agreement through an amendment. (Source: PL)
