Mexican newspaper highlights Cuba's denunciation of terrorist plot

Mexico City, Dec 10 (RHC)-- The front page of Mexico's La Jornada newspaper on Sunday highlights Cuba's denunciation of a thwarted terrorist plot hatched in South Florida, United States.

It notes that Cuba reported that it had foiled a terrorist plot hatched in South Florida, after a man arrived on the island on a jet ski to commit acts of violence.

The Mexican newspaper indicates that the investigation is still ongoing and that the plot was linked to at least two groups, Nueva Nación Cubana and La Nueva Nación Cubana en Armas, which the island has labeled as terrorist entities.

One of the detained men, whose identity was unclear, was armed with several pistols, magazines and ammunition.

According to the report, the man, a Cuban resident of Florida, had illegally entered Cuba on a jet ski with Florida license plates, which he abandoned in a mangrove swamp on the island's northern coast before heading overland to Cienfuegos, in the south-central part of the territory.

The man tried to recruit others to help him commit acts of violence, arson and vandalism before he was arrested.

La Jornada adds that the two groups identified in a television report are qualified as criminal institutions based in the United States that organize, finance and execute actions against the security of the Cuban state (Source: Prensa Latina).
