Ramón Labañino denounces violent actions from the U.S.

Havana, Dec 11 (RHC)-- The Hero of the Republic Ramón Labañino, denounced that terrorist groups based in South Florida continue to plan and finance violent actions against the Cuban people.

In a meeting on the occasion of the 127th anniversary of the fall in combat of the independence hero Antonio Maceo, Labañino recalled that the purpose of these plans, for more than 64 years, has been to overthrow the Cuban Revolution, and include death and destruction.

The economist and writer is one of the five revolutionaries who suffered imprisonment in the United States for penetrating terrorist organizations and informing his country about the violent actions of these groups, which operate with total impunity from the United States.

Labañino summarized the 16 years of detention in U.S. prisons, and the actions he carried out together with his four compañeros to prevent terrorist acts that would claim the lives of Cubans.

Last Saturday, national television revealed details of an ongoing investigation into the infiltration of a Cuban resident in Miami into the national territory, with the purpose of carrying out acts of sabotage, counter-revolutionary propaganda and aggression against officials on the island.

For his purposes, he recruited several people, who pointed out that the organizers, instigators and financiers were people based in the United States.

The day before, Cuban courts sentenced three people to 30, 25 and 20 years in prison, depending on the degree of responsibility and aggravating circumstances, for bomb attacks perpetrated last year against institutions on the island, which caused injuries to one person.

These violations of the law, which are covered by the Penal Code and anti-terrorist legislation, were planned and financed from abroad, and carried out on a continuous basis.

Over six decades, Cuba has been the victim of hundreds of bomb attacks on its installations, the introduction of diseases, the violation of its coasts and airspace, the hijacking of ships, the mid-air explosion of a Cubana de Aviación aircraft, and more than 600 assassination attempts on the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

According to official figures, these actions have caused 3,478 deaths and 2,99 injured, meaning that one out of every 1,972 inhabitants on the island has been a victim of terrorism, which is being perpetrated with total impunity from the United States, based in Miami. (Source: PL)
